Push-to-Talk
Push-to-talk is the quickest way to speak to Atlas. Hold the microphone button while you talk, release when you’re done, and Atlas transcribes your words and sends them as your message — no typing required.
How It Works
Section titled “How It Works”- Hold the microphone button in the chat panel
- Speak your message clearly
- Release the button when you’re done
- Atlas transcribes your audio using OpenAI Whisper (via the cloud) and sends the text as your message
- The transcribed text appears in the chat so you can see exactly what was sent
The whole process usually takes just a second or two for short messages. Longer recordings take a little more time to process.
What Happens to Your Audio
Section titled “What Happens to Your Audio”Your audio is sent securely to the Atlas cloud, where OpenAI Whisper converts it to text. The transcribed text is then used as your chat message. Audio is not stored after transcription.
Tips for Good Transcription
Section titled “Tips for Good Transcription”- Speak at a normal pace — you don’t need to slow down or enunciate artificially
- Reduce background noise when possible — music, fans, and open windows can affect accuracy
- Hold the button for the full message — releasing too early will cut off your words
- Start speaking right away — there’s no countdown, so begin as soon as you press the button
- Keep messages focused — shorter, clearer statements transcribe more reliably than long run-on sentences
Correcting Transcription Errors
Section titled “Correcting Transcription Errors”If the transcription isn’t quite right, you can edit the text in the message box before it’s sent — or just send a follow-up message to clarify. Atlas understands context, so a quick “I meant X, not Y” works fine.
