Account & Billing
This page covers everything related to your Atlas account — from creating one to managing your subscription and understanding usage limits.
Plan Comparison
Section titled “Plan Comparison”Atlas is free to download and use for all local features — no account required, no expiration. Paid plans unlock AI chat, voice input and output, and background automation.

The free tier is not a limited trial — it’s a full-featured local tool that works forever without an account. You get everything needed to manage your vault, search your notes, organize your network, build automations, and run plugins.
What doesn’t come with the free tier is access to most AI features — no LLM responses, no voice transcription, and no text-to-speech.
Trial (7 Days)
Section titled “Trial (7 Days)”The free trial gives you full access to all paid features for 7 days, with no credit card required upfront. It starts the moment you sign in with a new account. Trial limits are roughly 1/3 of the Talk plan.
Talk ($15/month)
Section titled “Talk ($15/month)”Talk is the standard paid plan for individual users. Usage limits are based on tokens, but equate to about:
- ~3,000 AI messages per month
- ~3 hours of speech-to-text per month
- ~3 hours of voice output per month
Walk & Talk ($20/month)
Section titled “Walk & Talk ($20/month)”Walk & Talk includes everything in Talk, plus access to the upcoming Atlas mobile app and cloud sync when they launch. The AI usage is the same as Talk.
Team Plan
Section titled “Team Plan”Custom team pricing and tools are available, based on what you need. Contact us if you’re interested to discover how to leverage Atlas for your team.
Creating an Account
Section titled “Creating an Account”- Go to atlasnotes.io and click Sign Up
- Enter your email address and choose a password
- Confirm your email address via the link sent to your inbox
- Your account is ready — and your free 7-day trial starts as soon as you sign in
Signing In to the Atlas Desktop App
Section titled “Signing In to the Atlas Desktop App”- Open Atlas and go to Settings > Account
- Click Sign In
- Enter your email and password
- Atlas connects to your account
Your subscription tier and usage stats will appear in Settings once you’re signed in.
Starting Your Free Trial
Section titled “Starting Your Free Trial”The free trial starts automatically when you sign in with a new account. You don’t need to do anything extra — just sign in and all paid features become available immediately for 7 days.
Subscribing to a Paid Plan
Section titled “Subscribing to a Paid Plan”When your trial ends, or if you want to subscribe directly:
- Go to Settings > Account and click Upgrade
- Choose your plan (Talk at $15/month or Walk & Talk at $20/month)
- You’ll be taken to a secure Stripe checkout page
- Enter your payment details and confirm
- Your subscription activates immediately after payment
Payments are processed by Stripe. Atlas does not store your card details.
Managing Your Billing
Section titled “Managing Your Billing”Click Manage Billing in Settings > Account to open the Stripe Customer Portal. From there you can:
- View invoices and payment history
- Update your payment method
- Change your plan (upgrade or downgrade between Talk and Walk & Talk)
- Cancel your subscription
Changing Your Plan
Section titled “Changing Your Plan”Open the Stripe Customer Portal (see above) and select a different plan. Changes take effect at the start of your next billing period.
Canceling Your Subscription
Section titled “Canceling Your Subscription”Open the Stripe Customer Portal and cancel. You’ll keep full access to paid features until the end of your current billing period. After that, your account reverts to the free tier — all your local data stays on your machine and nothing is deleted.
Usage Limits
Section titled “Usage Limits”All limits are monthly and reset at the start of your billing period.

Checking Your Usage
Section titled “Checking Your Usage”Go to Settings > Account to see progress bars for each resource:
- Green: Plenty of capacity remaining
- Yellow: Getting close to the limit
- Red: At or near the limit
The bars show your usage for the current period next to the total included in your plan.
No Overage Fees
Section titled “No Overage Fees”Atlas does not charge overage fees. When you hit a limit, the feature simply pauses until the limit resets. There are no surprise charges.
Signing Out
Section titled “Signing Out”Go to Settings > Account and click Sign Out. Signing out removes your credentials from the app. Your vault and local data are unaffected. You can sign back in at any time.
